Buckwheat Waffles

Buckwheat Waffles

The yummy buckwheat waffles that were served at last year’s retreat was a huge success! The best part is they aren’t just yummy but they also have clean ingredients.
So if you wanna have something special on the weekend why not try a waffle?

I got the waffle makers from Kmart

Buckwheat isn’t actually grain—it is a plant that produces seeds that are used like wheat, hence the name. It is completely gluten-free.

So if you are trying to avoid gluten, buckwheat is a great option.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/2 cups buckwheat flour

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • Pinch of salt

  • Pinch of cinnamon

  • 1 egg (or make an egg substitute if needed)

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste

  • 1 cup nut milk

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 1 cup plain yogurt

  • Ghee, butter, or coconut oil brushed onto waffle maker

  • Real maple syrup for serving

  • Berries for serving

Let the mixture sit for 15+ minutes for thickening. Add more or less liquid for preferred consistency
(some waffle makers work differently/heat)
