Kale chips that actually taste good
I find it funny how many people are scared of kale! I mean - it’s just a vegetable?!
If you have tried kale and didn’t like it, try again. It could be the way you cooked it or ate it, or it could be the quality of it.
This is one vegetable where you really recognise when it is organic. Organic kale isn’t as bitter.. but hey, we can’t all be kale snobs!
So when you have a bunch of kale to eat, first thing - after washing it of course - is to grab the stem with one hand and then use the other hand to drag the leaves up the stem until the come off (if you are totally confused just YouTube it!)
Leave the stem out for this recipe
INGREDIENTS
1 large bunch of quality kale
2 Tablespoons oil, we prefer coconut oil
1 Teaspoon Himalayan salt
1 teaspoon Paprika
1/2 Teaspoon Cayenne or chilli powder
1 Tablespoon Nutritional Yeast flakes
METHOD
Preheat oven to 180 degrees
Line a baking tray with baking paper
Add kale, spices and oil to a bowl and massage the spices and oil into the kale leaves
Pop kale onto baking tray
Sprinkle with nutritional yeast flakes
Cook for 10 minutes
NOTE
You must watch the kale cooking as its easy to burn
You can turn the kale halfway through cooking
It is ready when kale leaves are crunchy and slightly golden
(If you pull them out and taste and aren’t happy with them, pop them back in for a few more minutes - just remember to keep an eye on them!)
