Are you a sugar addict ?

Most of us know that consuming a lot of sugar isn’t exactly healthy, but are you aware how dangerous being addicted to sugar may be to your overall health?

Research keeps showing us that sugar is directly linked to obesity, cardiovascular disease and many other health issues. That is scary! Right?!

Eating too much sugar, makes your blood sugar rise rapidly, which can create inflammation over time. If the inflammation becomes chronic, it can trigger changes in the body that may eventually lead to chronic disease or illness.

So why does everyone ignore the facts and updated research and still consume a lot on a daily basis??!

Sugar addiction can be a real issue for many women who feel overwhelmed, frustrated and sometimes completely exhausted. Having something to look forward to, a 'reward' for dealing with the many tasks needing completion in a day, the pressures that we are putting on ourselves, can make us rationalise that the whole block of chocolate is necessary and of course deserving!

Some speculate that what we are really telling ourselves is that we don't care enough about our health for it to be a priority..? Hmmm..

The women I meet that want guidance and support, know that sugar is not doing them any favours, yet still indulge in chocolate on a daily basis.

Telling women they cant eat chocolate is SCARY!! What is scarier though is that we may be addicted to sugar..

Instead of focusing on not eating chocolate, or whatever form of overindulging on sugar you do eat, why not find a way to flip it. Swap out the store bought, processed chocolate or cake and include something in that you enjoy.

Why not start by making some raw chocolate or dessert. When making dessert from scratch with wholesome ingredients you will find they taste richer, so you generally will eat less quantity, it doesn't have all the additives, preservatives and other fake food and your body will digest and distribute it in a healthier way.

How about taking some time out on your weekend to make one or two healthier versions of dessert or chocolate. Raw is great as its quick, plus you can pop in the freezer and when your wanting a raw ball or raw snickers slice, you will have to wait for it to defrost before you can eat it. This makes it less likely to overindulge!

Trying to break habits may not be easy, so instead flip it by replacing it with a healthier habit like a small piece of raw dessert (occasionally) !
