Improve Yourself Daily Green Smoothie

You may be a hard core smoothie drinker from way back. Or this might be your first attempt at it. The important thing is you realise all the benefits from drinking a green smoothie.

It is usually the start of your meals for the day and by drinking a green smoothie you are supplying your body with nutrients that will support high energy levels and fight off any signs of fatigue early on.

Its a great way to increase your daily intake of green vegetables

It is a lot easier to digest first thing in the morning, leaving you with more energy

You should notice greater mental clarity and focus! We all need some of that!

So what is in our simple green smoothie?

First we load a tray of ice in our blender.You may find during cooler weather you want to skip this.

Next we add 1 - 2 frozen bananas. If your not already doing this, next time you go to the farmers markets, grab yourself one of those silicone pouches and some cheap ripened bananas, peel them and break them in half’s and pop them into the pouch and then the freezer.

Then add 2 cups of baby spinach. If your not a big greens eater yet, don’t panic, you hardly taste it in the smoothie. If you have smoothies often you may want to swap the spinach for kale.

After blending the first 2 ingredients we then add nut butter. A lot of supermarkets now sell nut butters or ABC (almonds, cashews & Brazil nuts) or it is super easy and less cost to make your own. We add 1 huge tablespoon.

Then we add some protein powder. Now this is where it can get tricky if you haven’t tried protein powders before. My suggestion is to try the sample packs and see what agrees with your body. My favs are Hemp protein powder by Hemp Foods, Clean protein by Nutra Organics and I have just started Tropeaka’s Lean Protein.

The best part? The super foods of course! We also add Maca powder, hemp seeds, collagen powder, greens powder. We have also tried the Tropeaka Boost & Tone BCAA+ in the last few weeks as well.

We finish off with the flavour punch!! 1 - 2 drops of doTERRA peppermint or lime essential oil. YUM! This gives it the lovely flavour and brings it all together.

Blend and as needed add either water, coconut milk, almond milk or cashew milk, until you get the consistency you prefer. We usually add half a cup of filtered water and half a cup of coconut milk.

Pour and enjoy!!
